Role Descriptor: Scientist

The role holder will be a core team member at NanOptima and will play a vital role in supporting the design and development of revolutionary treatments that will improve the standard of care in retinal diseases

Main Duties & Responsbilities

·        Provide scientific and technical expertise that help progress NanOptima’s business objectives

·        Support the design and development of NanOptima’s products

·        Critically analyse and use initiative to solve problems and trouble shoot with the assistance of other members of the team

·        Progress experimental work focussed on NanOptima’s scientific goals

·        Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and documentation to the highest standards

·        Develop and maintain knowledge of all relevant scientific literature and developments

·        Contribute to the wider running of the laboratory ensuring the highest standards are maintained

·        Work safely and responsibility adhering to all rules and procedures

Scientific & Technical Knowledge

·        Masters degree or equivalent experience in life sciences, materials science, chemistry or a related scientific discipline

·        Practical laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting (6 months minimum)

·        Hands on experience with bioanalytical/analytical techniques is desirable such as:

o  Biologics assay development, optimisation and qualification

o  Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, IEF)

o  Chromatography (SEC, RP-HPLC, AEX, HILIC)

o  Immunoassays (ELISA, Potency, HCP)

·        Knowledge of related scientific disciplines

·        Develops scientific objectives where appropriate
