This is an exciting lab-based opportunity for a graduate technician. 272BIO are seeking a thorough, detail orientated and committed candidate, who will help shape the future of 272BIO as a critical part of our teams. The successful candidate will be keen, enthusiastic with a strong work ethic. We would favour a candidate with good aseptic technique, and working with automation would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be able to work as an integral part of a high performing team.  The candidate will be required to show initiative in their work and ability to develop in their role. The candidate will be flexible, have a “can-do” attitude, enjoy working on new and (initially) unfamiliar science, and have a self-starter mentality. We require the candidate to be meticulous, follow good lab procedures, and document all activities carefully in an electronic lab notebook (ELN). The successful Junior Lab Technician will be responsible for:

  • Working with the project teams to provide media, buffers, basic cultures.
  • Carry out routine assays/experiments alongside project teams from time to time
  • Assisting with the expression and purification of proteins
  • Assisting with data manipulation and analysis as needed
  • Ensuring processes are carried out safely, efficiently, and up to the laboratory standards
  • Working with the project teams to set up and manage appropriate automation solutions.

Experience and Education Desirable for the Junior Lab Technician:

  • A BSc Honours degree in a biological or physical science (or equivalent on-the-job experience)
  • Experience in a laboratory setting (Industrial for preference but academic or clinical is accepted)
  • Experience with aseptic technique and of using a class II safety cabinet
  • Experience of mammalian, bacterial or yeast cell culture
  • Experience of managing and maintaining lab stocks
  • Experience with robotics and laboratory automation
  • Experience of maintaining documents and procedures within laboratory accreditation specifications
  • A good understanding of health and safety protocols in a lab environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; use of Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Teams, and electronic notebooks and databases.  An interest in computer coding, electronics or data analysis is an advantage.
