Position Summary

 

We are seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our synthetic chemistry team based at our site in Compton, Berkshire, UK, to support laboratory staff by maintaining consumable and solvent stock, chemical inventory, glassware, equipment, log and record books as well as troubleshooting and resolving problems, helping with special projects and managing all aspects of day to day running of the laboratories. No previous experience of working in a laboratory environment is required, but would be considered a bonus.

 

Role and Responsibilities

 

  • Chemical inventory management.

  • Ordering the consumables and managing their stock, including solvents.

  • Carry out the lab cleaning and ensure that lab work area is clean and tidy.

  • Complete projects by assisting the synthetic laboratory team.

  • Maintenance of equipment by following standard operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and arranging repairs where necessary.

  • Waste disposal as appropriate.

  • Daily/weekly checks of facilities.

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Minimum A levels or equivalent, including a good pass in a science subject

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Self-motivated and pro-active learner.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Good understanding of laboratory housekeeping and safety practices.

  • Flexible, organised and reliable

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
