Our client is a small but listed pharmaceutical development company focused on unlocking the therapeutic potential and value of known drugs to develop new novel medicines to provide enhanced benefit.
Over the last 12 months, the Board of Directors has undertaken a substantial amount of work to position the business for growth. The company has appointed a new CEO and 2 new NEDs. The focus continues to be driving maximum value for shareholders with a number of key opportunities following a recently oversubscribed fundraise.
They are now looking for a replacement Chair; the Key responsibilities include chairing monthly board meetings and providing leadership to the directors and executive management team in particular mentoring the CEO in their first time leading a PLC. The role holder will ensure the company is managed effectively and that an appropriate governance framework is in place.
Key will be providing scrutiny, leadership, oversight and strategic input to the company and to provide support to the experienced CEO and senior management team. The Chair will ensure an effective relationship between all board members and stakeholders/shareholders and Act as an independent voice in the event of a dispute between the directors.
The successful candidate will have practical experience of building and scaling companies, ideally in the pharmaceuticals (therapeutics) sector. A good track record in leadership, and an appreciation of drug development, licensing and business development is required.
The role holder will have had non-executive director experience, ideally as a Chair, and will have board-level experience of building and scaling a publicly listed company.
This is a remunerated position and requires circa 3 days a month total time contribution.
