Molecule 2 Medicine Limited (M2M) is a private biotechnology and pharmaceutical consulting company based in the UK, that helps a select portfolio of clients achieve the efficient discovery, development and global commercialisation of new human therapeutics.

Main job purpose:

This person will be required to work closely with and provide 1:1 support to the CEO & Co-Founder of M2M and be part of the broader M2M operations group. This role will directly contribute to the success of the biotech companies M2M has co-founded, Grey Wolf Therapeutics and Pathios Therapeutics, where M2M’s CEO is Executive Chairman.  In addition, M2M also supports other biotech companies and investors and evaluates new biotech company creation opportunities. This role will be involved in those initiatives as directed by M2M’s CEO.

Focussing on a wide-variety of activities and projects across the multiple businesses in the CEO's portfolio, you will have clear visibility into the impact and outcomes your work delivers. This role is perfect for someone who already understands the small molecule drug discovery language & landscape and who is eager to get involved in a start-up environment.

Main role responsibilities:

  • Support the CEO with his R&D and operational responsibilities connected to M2M’s portfolio of companies, clients and interests (75% of this role’s time)
  • Work with M2M’s Operations Manager & EA on operational tasks for the Grey Wolf & Pathios teams (25% of this role’s time)
  • Conducting and reporting literature searches using a suite of industry recognised tools (e.g. SciFinder®) and maintaining the online library of journal articles and patents
  • Working with the CEO to take his rough drafts of synthetic pathways and target compounds and prepare these in ChemDraw® for internal and external audiences
  • Support the retrieval & analysis of scientific data from R&D collaborators
  • Interpretation and presentation of scientific data to generate output reports using PowerPoint/Excel
  • Maintain the CEO’s action list and ensure tasks are completed according to deadlines
  • Assist the CEO with maintaining relevant company & project documentation and plans in an accessible and organized manner on company shared drives
  • Helping prepare outputs from scientific and business-related conferences as required
  • Helping prepare team presentations across both the scientific and operational sides of the business
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the internal and external company network to facilitate contractor / academic relationship management
  • Learn to gather and track competitive intelligence and business development activities across the biotech / pharma community and contribute the collection of this type of information to the individuals charged with these responsibilities within either Grey Wolf & Pathios
  • Acting as a first point of contact for the CEO, including dealing with correspondence
  • While administrators in M2M’s other companies will primarily be responsible for booking and arranging travel, transport and accommodation for the CEO, you will be involved in certain aspects including collating and filing expenses
  • Full diary (interfacing with administrators in M2M’s other companies) and inbox management for the CEO including him dictating the content of, compiling and preparing emails directly from his inbox
  • Liaising with employees, suppliers and contractors/collaborators as directed by the CEO and the M2M operational team

Skills needed

  • Strong academic background, must have a degree in a scientific discipline (BSc or Hons in organic chemistry preferred)
  • Passion for developing medicines that could make a positive impact on patients lives
  • Someone who has worked in a scientific organisation or CRO (Contract Resource Organisation) for at least 1-2yrs
  • Passion for a career in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Entrepreneurial and start-up spirit and willingness to be agile and get involved in everything across the business
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • A calm and professional manner
  • Comfortable with rapid decision making and appropriate adjustment in priorities
