'CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES' WORKSHOP AT GRANTA PARK

Riding China Success at World EXPO: Challenges and Opportunities in China Healthcare & life science

This workshop will be an eye opening event for all those who want to have a deep understanding on the global importance and influence of China's enormous size, consistent high economic growth especially double-digit growth in the life science industry and in the biopharmaceutical sector, challenges and opportunities from latest healthcare reform, and Chinese government effort and aspiration for steering the economy from mass production to high-tech innovation and discovery.


Prof. Alan Barrell as the Chairman of NHS Innovation East, a veteran entrepreneur and freethinking humanitarian, his topic on ‘Truth About China: China Reality Check In Tomorrow’s World’ will decipher the secret code behind China’s rapid social and economic progress in the past three decades. His presentation will provide scholarly insight, thought-provoking ideas and hilarious insight, which in turn will make one think long and hard even after the initial laugh.


Prof. Tai-Ping Fan has been the Head of Angiogenesis & TCM Laboratory, University of Cambridge since 1986. As an Honorary Professor of The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Prof. Fan regularly lectured in top universities, research institutes around China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Dr. Fan’s talk will show the fascinating collaborative research opportunities by unlocking the Molecular secrets of Chinese medicine with latest Biotech and Genetics knowledge.


Mr. Marshall Ma as the managing director of Link China Pharma Solutions will bring his years experiences for helping UK companies to successfully develop business in China. His presentation will analyze on latest China Healthcare Reform, challenges and opportunities in China Biopharmaceutical industry development.
Mr. Zhiyu Hu as the secretary and science & Technology specialist of Chinese Embassy Science & Technology section, he will give an guideline talk focus on the opportunities for UK Medtech and pharmaceutical companies during latest China Healthcare reform and Chinese government policy initiatives of promoting life science innovation in the high-tech industry sector. International IP Expert, Dr. Barbara Fleck of Marks& Clerk, will cover China IPR Law enforcement and safeguard one’s IPR in China for high-tech companies.


ERBI CEO Ms. Harriet Fear will share her years experiences for life science companies’ international collaboration and the opportunity for ERBI members to develop international collaboration partnership with US, Europe, China and other regions/countries around the world. Mr. Michael Garrison with over 30 year successful experience in pharmaceutical industry leads the business development team at NHS Innovation East to promote and facilitate innovation and adoption of new technology within the NHS and wide UK healthcare industry. Although the main topic is focused on China's Biopharmaceutical industry, but it will benefit Entrepreneurs from all sectors, SMEs, MPCs, public, private and charitable organizations such as hospitals, universities and research institutes etc; strategic planning, business development and market research executives; R&D, licensing, patent and regulatory consultant executives; PE and VC investment professionals etc.
