“Medical Innovation - A Global Perspective on Healthcare Innovation” is to be held at the Said Business School on March 17th/18th 2010.

Hosted by the Oxford Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and The George Institute for International Health, and supported by the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, Medical Innovation 2010 will bring together over 300 healthcare professionals, managers, policy makers and researchers for a two-day conference at the Saïd Business School in Oxford. Through a dynamic programme including keynote speeches, parallel sessions, entrepreneurship workshops and networking opportunities, we aim to provide an exclusive insight into the global challenge of healthcare innovation.

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals, both UK based and international. Throughout the conference you will obtain a 360 degree view of healthcare innovation, culminating in a high level policy debate held on the final day and an introduction to The George Centre for Healthcare Innovation.

Confirmed speakers and panel members include:

About The George Institute for International Health and The George Centre for Healthcare Innovation
The George Institute for International Health is a not-for-profit health and medical research institute with a focus on improving the health of disadvantaged populations, prevention and management of chronic conditions and innovation in health service delivery. With research and policy influencing bases in the UK, China, India and Australia, and more than 60 health projects operating in nearly 50 countries, its impact is truly global. The Institute has collaborated with the University of Oxford and the National Health Service, to develop The George Centre for Healthcare Innovation which will facilitate the health strategies and technologies that can be deployed widely, rapidly and cost effectively. The Centre’s projects and programmes will address conditions causing the greatest disease burden and health inequalitiy, including chronic or complex conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and trauma.

About the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre
The Oxford comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre (OxBRC) is a partnership between the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Oxford. It has been made possible by a grant from the Department of Health's National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) under the programme 'Best Research for Best Health'.

The Oxford BRC undertakes 'translational research', which means taking laboratory research into a clinical setting. This kind of research is about first-time studies of medical innovations in patients, which are intended to improve healthcare delivery for the benefit of all patients.

The organisation is characterised by creative connections and collaborative relationships. These are constructed between different research themes, with other local research resources connected by the partnership engagement group. Broader connections with other NIHR Biomedical Research Centres, Clinical Networks and experimental medical facilities are being built.
