Linda was also part of the White Rose Biotechnology Consortium which was established to exploit the possible synergies between the Universities of York, Sheffield and Leeds to maximise the commercial potential of life science research from the three Universities. Linda has had over 20 years experience in the Life Science industry with Zeneca plc / ICI plc during which time she was responsible for managing the biology research within developing life science businesses covering the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, biopolymer, chemical and food business. After a research career in academia he has worked in technological consulting, venture capital and with start-up biotech companies. In 2000 he founded Amedis Pharmaceuticals, and lead the company through its seed and first round funding, recruitment of a management team, filing its first patents and closing its first pharmaceutical company collaboration. In 2002 he founded Delta G Ltd., a company exploiting the growing field of biogerontology.
Oxford BRC The Oxford comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre (OxBRC) is a partnership between the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Oxford. It has been made possible by a £75m grant from the Department of Health's National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) under the programme 'Best Research for Best Health'.
The Oxford BRC undertakes 'translational research', which means taking laboratory research into a clinical setting. This kind of research is about first-time studies of medical innovations in patients, which are intended to improve healthcare delivery for the benefit of all patients.
The organisation is characterised by creative connections and collaborative relationships. These are constructed between different research themes, with other local research resources connected by the partnership engagement group. Broader connections with other NIHR Biomedical Research Centres, Clinical Networks and experimental medical facilities are being built.
Isis Innovation Isis Innovation Limited is wholly owned by the University of Oxford. Isis Innovation has three main business activities:
Isis helps Oxford University researchers to commercialise intellectual property arising from their research: patenting, licensing, spin-out companies.
Isis manages Oxford University Consulting which helps Oxford University researchers to identify and manage consulting opportunities and helps clients access experts from Oxford's world-class, interdisciplinary research base.
Isis Enterprise provides consulting expertise and advice in technology transfer and innovation management to clients across the public and private sectors around the world.
Isis was established by Oxford University in 1988 as its wholly owned technology transfer company. Isis has developed substantially over the years in a number of phases, as the technology transfer activity has grown, and with the formation of Oxford University Consulting and Isis Enterprise.
Isis manages the University’s intellectual property portfolio, working with University researchers on identifying, protecting and marketing technologies through licensing, spin-out company formation, consulting and material sales. Isis funds patent applications and legal costs, negotiates exploitation and spin-out company agreements, and identifies and manages consultancy opportunities. Isis works on projects from all areas of the University’s research activities: life sciences, physical sciences, social sciences and humanities. Isis provides access to Oxford’s expertise and provides researchers with advice on commercialisation.
