Touchlight Genetics is an innovative DNA technology company. Our in vitro DNA amplification technology produces high quality synthetic ‘doggybone’ DNA (dbDNA) for new therapeutic and synthetic biology applications. We are located in custom-built laboratories in Hampton, west London.

We are currently seeking an experienced scientist with expertise in protein evolution and protein purification. Working within the Innovations group, you will be tasked with evolving proteins for improved functionality, refining purification protocols, and validation of new protein and nucleic acid-based constructs.
Your principal role will be to improve functionality of existing enzymes for use in our dbDNA production platform. In addition you will be responsible for the production and exploitation of new enzymes for dbDNA production specifically and for nucleic acid production in general. You will also be responsible for purification of proteins and development of functionality assays.
Qualifications and experience
- Applicants should have a PhD or postdoctoral experience within the area of protein evolution and purification.
- Experience in purification and assaying of nucleic acid-related proteins would be beneficial.
- In depth knowledge of current molecular biological techniques, and experience with DNA manipulation and cloning, is essential.
- The successful candidate will be bringing ideas to life, and must therefore be engaged with the science, adaptable to new approaches, and eager to work within a fast-moving team.
All candidates should possess clear communication and presentation skills and an ability to work effectively as an individual and within a multidisciplinary team. Successful candidates will also be proficient in organising and managing their work and delivering results to established timelines.
